The Focus
Joe helps business professionals become clearer, calmer and more compelling speakers in presentations, meetings, pitches and high-stakes conversations.
What a Masterclass covers:
Nerves under pressure - learning to channel adrenaline rather than fight it. Performers live and die by this skill, and it translates directly to high-stakes business moments. The body reacts the same way whether you're stepping onto stage or into a boardroom.
Adaptability - exploring practical methods to take ownership of what we’re saying regardless of the circumstances. What happens if the tech fails us? What if an audience member throws us a curve ball question? Preparation leads to inspiration if we rehearse in a creative environment.
Presence and non-verbal communication - bringing awareness to our body language and assessing when to magnify or adjust it. Your non-verbal cues should reinforce your message, not undercut it — we'll work out where yours help and where they fight you.
Quality of listening - It’s an old cliché but “Acting is reacting”. The same applies in business settings. The deeper we listen, the more information we can draw from our team and clients. This practice is not just about what we do but how we receive and respond.
Breath and voice - to encourage natural projection and clarity of thought. Joe has been trained by some of the world’s leading voice experts for stage and screen, notably Cicely Berry and Ros Steen.
You - We remember the person more than the presentation. How can we showcase your individual qualities without them feeling contrived or performed?
One - Day Intensive
A small-group Masterclass for up to 12 participants at the Still Room, Keswick Hall.
Next date: Thursday 25th of June 2026 - 10am to 4.30pm
The morning covers practical techniques for breath, voice, body language and listening — the foundations every confident speaker draws on. After lunch, each participant presents to the group (either prepared in advance or developed during the day), with the freedom to arrange the room to match the setting they're preparing for — boardroom, lectern, or conference stage. Everyone receives constructive one-to-one feedback.
Because participants come from different businesses, the Masterclass is also a low-stakes environment to test-drive ideas in front of fresh eyes, hear how speakers from other sectors approach the same challenges, and spend the day alongside a small group of fellow professionals working on the same thing. You'll leave with a clearer sense of your strengths, the habits holding you back, and practical techniques you can apply to the next pitch, presentation or meeting you deliver.
